2023 Jaffle Shack Oceania Youth Wave Titles

We're excited to announce the 2023 Jaffle Shack Oceania Youth Wave Titles in Geraldton, Western Australia, for youth under 21. Importantly, this event will contribute significantly to gaining a unified PWA/IWT Youth Wave World Ranking and a regional ranking in your specific age/gender division.
This event will be the most significant youth wave sailing event in the Oceania region.

Who
The event is open to any youth under 21 from anywhere in the world, especially those in Oceania countries (eg, Australia, NZ, Fiji, etc).
We are aiming for separate divisions for girls and boys, PLUS separate divisions for age groups.
Everyone is welcome, even if you're learning to jump or catch waves. If you can water start, give it a go!! There'll be fun prizes for wipeouts and best attempts at new moves, as well as winner's prizes and important world ranking points for the more advanced youth sailors.

Registration Guide

1) Ensure your memberships are current (you will not be able to register if not on the member register)
2) Register each windsurfer - this needs to be done separately for each windsurfer

All participants MUST be a CURRENT WWA member (Junior or kids member of WWA or Affiliate member).
You may elect to join as a single event member before you can register  (Select "Single Event - Oceania Wave Youth Titles 2023".)

Dates
25-26 Feb 2023 With a reserve weekend of 4-5 March 2023 if there's insufficient wind in Feb.

Location
Coronation Beach Geraldton, for U15s and U13s.
The Spot (Oakajee River Mouth) will also be considered an option for the more advanced sailors (eg, U21 Pro Junior and U18 Juniors) - depending on conditions, of course.
Youth in any division can sail the smaller inside break at Coronations which suits those who are just learning to jump and are a little less consistent in their water starts. Those who are able to ride waves and consistently water start can venture to the outside break if they wish.
A safety jetski will be present during the competition.

Please note that we are aligning divisions with the unified PWA/IWT Wave Tour divsions.  These have not been confirmed to us yet, so the above represents the most likely divisions based on conversations with tour heads.  We will update ahd align once confirmed.

Schedule – Saturday

Assuming conditions are suitable, the likely schedule for the first Saturday will be this.  However, it may change once forecasts are known.

• 9.30 am-10.00 am – registration at Coronation Beach, near the Geraldton Windsurfing Club containers
• 10.30 am briefing
• 11 am First possible start
• 6 pm Last heat finishes
• 7.30 pm – Jaffle Shack Dinner

Schedule - Sunday

• 10 am continuation of competition if required
• Aim for an early finish to allow return travel unless the Saturday has not been windy.

Saturday Night Jaffle Shack Dinner

Competitors, friends, family and any other windsurfers in Geraldton are all welcome to a Saturday night dinner and party at the Jaffle Shack.

Cost: $25 per person for dinner plus one drink (soft drinks for Under 18s).

Accommodation Suggestions

Goodies Eco Camp is our recommended option. It is safe, close to Coronation Beach and can cater for everyone.

Coronation Beach campground – no booking required, no water or power, camping on a first come basis, cash only.

Sunset Beach Caravan Park – A good option for those who prefer to stay in town with more facilities.
