Margaret River is now a confirmed 4 star event thanks to the World Windsurfing Wave Tour, along with the Shire of Augusta Margaret River, Severne Windsurfing and Windsurfing WA.
Prize Money
There is USD$10,000 prize money for this event, split equally between Pro Men and Pro Women. This will be paid approximately 8 weeks AFTER the event's completion.
Prize money for Under 21s will be announced shortly.
Entry Criteria
Please note we have a Shire imposed restriction of 50 entrants so please register early to guarantee your place. Entries on the day will NOT be accepted.
All entries to 23rd January have been accepted. From this point on, entries will be accepted until the limit is reached. No more entries will be accepted once the limit is reached.
Event Schedule:
- Friday 31st January to Monday 3 February (The event will be held over two consecutive days during the event window).
- Friday February 7th to Monday February 10th - Reserve days if conditions don't suit in the first weekend.
A party night will be held with date and location TBA (when we know forecasts). The entry fee will include some food and drink at the party.
Pre Entry Requirements
Entrants will need to be full WWA members or purchase Single Event Membership in order to compete. Note this is essential to provide the adequate insurance for the event and also provides you with personal injury cover and 3rd party liability cover during the event.
Divisions
With number restrictions, we prefer Pro and Masters only enter one division - please select the best one for your skill level and competitive desires. Top ranked U18 and U21 are encouraged to enter multiple divisions. People intending to do multiple world tour events in 2025 are also able to enter more than one division.
Pro Men (lower ranked competitors who do not make the cut may be placed into Masters if they qualify for that age range).
Pro Women
U21 Pro Junior Men/Pro Junior Women
U18 Boys/Girls
Masters: Age 45 and older
Grand Masters: 60+ (1 heat only)
Competition Format
We will aim to run a 'dingle' format which gives everyone at least 2 heats.
In the event of limited wind and/or waves we may run alternative formats.
Safety
The usual safety measures will be in place for this event as per previous years, including one to two jet skis and sleds driven by experienced Water Patrol Australia safety crew (one for smaller swell, two for larger swell).
Please note if the Department of Transport rules requires that if you sail beyond 400m of the shore the law requires you to wear a Type 2/Level 50 life jacket.
